INSTALACJA Z PAKIETÓW:

Nie ma pakietu Wireshark dla systemu Ubuntu wcześniejszym niż edgy (6.10) oraz stabilnej wersji dla Debiana.
W tych przypadkach musimy instalować Ethereal lub kompilować Wireshark ze źródeł.

Ubuntu

wcześniejsze wersje, przed edgy (6.10):

#apt-get install ethereal
wersja edgy (6.10) i nowsze:

#apt-get install wireshark
Debian

W marcu 2007, nie było jeszcze wersji stabilnej dla Debiana, więc musimy pobrać Ethereal.

#apt-get install ethereal
lub wersję nie stabilną Wireshark ze strony pakietów Debiana.

Aby uruchomić Wireshark lub Ethereal na Debianie i Ubuntu, wykonujemy polecenia:

#ethereal
#wireshark

RĘCZNA INSTALACJA:

Instalujemy pakiety umożliwiające kompilację:

#apt-get install build-essantial
W celu poprawnej kompilacji Wireshark instalujemy również pakiety development dla GTK+ and bibliotek GLib.

#apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev libglib2.0-dev
Instalujemy Checkinstall. Zapewni nam to łatwiejsze zarządzenie aplikacjami instalowanymi ze źródeł.

#apt-get install checkinstall
Pobieramy i rozpakowujemy źródła Wireshark:

#tar -xvf wireshark-0.99.5.tar.gz
Sprawdzamy zależności:

#cd wireshark-0.99.5
#./configure
Jeśli zobaczymy informację o błędzie, musimy zainstalować biblioteki GTK+ oraz GLib zgodnie z poniższym:

checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed.

Kompilujemy i instalujemy narzędzie:

#make
#checkinstall
Uruchamiamy Wireshark:

#wireshark

INSTALACJA WERSJI BEZ OKIEN (TShark)

Tshark jest wersją Wireshark bez okienek, którą można bardzo łatwo zainstalować:

#apt-get install tshark
